Get ready to roll down Memory Lane with ‘Cars & Cigars’ at The Barnacle

Enjoy at biergarten, cigar roller, kid’s crafts, and live music by “Charter Flight.”

Get ready to roll down Memory Lane at “Cars and Cigars,” the annual Father’s Day event at The Barnacle Historic State Park. This year, the classic Miami tradition takes place June 16, 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., on the grounds of the beautiful Barnacle, home of Coconut Grove’s founding father Commodore Ralph Munroe.

The event offers a full day of fun activities for every member of the family including a biergarten, cigar roller, kid’s crafts, voting for your favorite classic car, and live music by “Charter Flight.” It all happens on the picturesque bay-front grounds of The Barnacle Historic State Park, 3485 Main Highway in Coconut Grove.

Owners of classic cars at least 25 years old may register by calling 305-442-6866 or via email at Jessica.Cabral@FloridaDEP.gov.

Visitors are encouraged to park their own cars in one of the neighborhood lots and request a complimentary Freebee shuttle or walk over to The Barnacle. A shady, tree-lined path leads to where dozens of classic cars will be displayed on the front lawn of the historic home – a classic in its own rite, built in 1891 by Grove pioneer Commodore Ralph Munroe.

“Cars & Cigars is one of my favorite annual events at The Barnacle,” says President of The Barnacle Society John Palenchar.

“It has the elegant feel of a classic car show, the relaxed ambiance that only The Barnacle grounds can offer, and really fun activities for everyone in the family. It’s a truly unique and thoughtful way to celebrate Father’s Day.”

Spread out a blanket on the grass with a picnic from home, or purchase burgers and hot dogs expertly grilled by volunteer members of The Barnacle Society.

Proceeds from concession sales help raise funds for historic preservation at the park. General admission to the grounds is $2 person. Children under 6 are free, and well-behaved, leashed dogs are welcome.
