This year, for the first time, the Town of Cutler Bay is partnering with the Village of Palmetto Bay for the village’s evening event at Village Hall, 9705 E. Hibiscus St. in Palmetto Bay.
The free event begins at 6 p.m. with rides, food, music and other activities, topped off at 9:30 p.m. by the fireworks display. The town joins other primary sponsors for the celebration of America’s birthday.
But before town residents head over for the spectacular evening event they will want to attend the 52nd annual Cutler Bay-Whispering Pines 4th of July Celebration taking place from 9 a.m. until noon at Whispering Pines Park, 8800 Ridgeland Dr. in Cutler Bay.
The Independence Day parade, a wonderful “small town” type event, consists of local residents’ floats and decorated vehicles such as bicycles, trucks and golf carts, marching bands and equestrian groups.
Following the parade will be a cookout at the park with food, live music, face painting, interactive arts and crafts, bounce houses and activities. Samantha Zaitman will sing the National Anthem and, if weather permits, there will be a flyover by Air Force jets from the Homestead Air Base.
The parade lineup begins at 8 a.m. with the parade starting promptly at 9 a.m. Walkers, bicycles and golf carts should assemble on SW 89th Road. Vehicles and parade floats lineup on SW 190th Street. If using a golf cart, be sure it is registered.
