Doral is ‘ready to respond’ with new Divisional Emergency Operations Center

Doral está listo para responder con el Nuevo Centro Divisional de Operaciones de Emergencia

The Doral mayor and council have inaugurated the city’s new Divisional Emergency Operations Center (EOC). The special ceremony on July 16, included the unveiling of a plaque and ribbon cutting.

Mayor Juan Carlos Bermudez took the podium in the facility for his remarks as he would during an actual emergency, surrounded by state-of-the-art computer monitoring systems. Several state, city, and Miami-Dade County officials were also present to celebrate this important milestone for the region.

“One of my main priorities as Mayor has always been the safety and wellbeing of the Doral community, especially during difficult times when there is most need,” stated Mayor Bermudez. “The building of this EOC, which I’m proud to report was completed on schedule and under budget, will prove pivotal in responding to emergencies effectively and efficiently to get our city and its services back on track following any disastrous event.”

The EOC is located within the Category 5 hurricane proof building, at the Doral Police Department, and will serve as the coordination hub for an incident response and recovery. The EOC will provide a central intelligence area for the city and response team personnel to gather critical information, coordinate response activities, and manage personnel during emergencies and catastrophic events to ensure a swift recovery for our residents and business owners.

All City departments will have a position inside the EOC for both day and night shifts. For maximum collaboration, different jurisdictions and agencies will also be represented on-site such as FP&L, Miami-Dade Police and Fire Department, U.S. Southern Command, American Red Cross, City of Miami Springs, Town of Medley and Village of Virginia Gardens.
