Coral Reef Elementary (CRE) recently celebrated 50 years of excellence in education with its annual Fun Fair, themed “Welcome to the Jungle,” on Saturday, Apr. 9.

CRE Fun Fair is an annual carnival day for families, teachers and students to enjoy rides, games and food, and to celebrate a great year while raising money for the school.

This year, students enjoyed rock climbing, numerous giant slides, foam machines and a bungee jump as well as carnival games. The CRE school chorus performed for attendees and a silent auction with donations from community businesses were important parts of the day. The Fun Fair raised more than $12,000, which will be used for various school programs and improvements.

Dr. Fred Albion. principal, believes that the Fun Fair is the perfect way to celebrate learning and hard work.

“Everyone has a great time — parents, teachers, students and volunteers,” he said. “The kids can celebrate all of the time they have devoted to school work this year and spend some time with schoolmates and staff in a more relaxed setting.”

Fun Fair is an annual event for Coral Reel Elementary celebrated every spring. The school also hosts a western-themed Hoe Down each fall.
