The Women's Breast & Heart Initiative hosts B-Fore-Pink Breast Cancer Golf Tournament
Vintage Floors & Interiors, represented by the husband and wife duo of Rick Menger and Amy Menger, participated.

The Women’s Breast & Heart Initiative (WBHI) hosted its ninth annual B-Fore-Pink Breast Cancer Golf Tournament on Friday, Oct. 2, at Shula’s Golf Club to raise awareness of the importance of prevention and early detection of breast cancer.

The B-Fore-Pink Breast Cancer Golf Tournament, recognizing Breast Cancer Awareness Month, joined the community and businesses for a day on the golf course, while raising funds to provide at-risk women with breast health education and screenings that help change and save lives.

The annually anticipated B-Fore-Pink Breast Cancer Golf Tournament, with co-chairs Wayne Rinehart and John Williams was WBHI’s first in-person event since the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic. Social distance measures and face covering guidelines on the golf course ensured a leisurely outdoor day, while raising funds for access to preventive care and education on breast healthy habits to help beat the odds of breast cancer.

“With COVID-19, common risk factors have been identified including having any type of cancer, obesity, along with heart disease, hypertension and high blood pressure. Amid the pandemic, breast cancer and heart disease have not been postponed and early detection helps beat the odds.” said Andrea Ivory, WBHI’s founder and executive director. “Breast cancer remains the second most common cancer with one in eight women diagnosed each year.”

The annual B-Fore-Pink Breast Cancer Golf Tournament joined corporations and family businesses alike, with generous supporters including Jackson Health System, Farrah Family, Ivory Construction Inc., Almeida Roofing, Ocean Coast Electrical, Oliva Cigar, Vintage Floors and Interiors, and other corporations and local retailers supporting hole sponsorships and providing amazing raffle prizes.
