Dr. Lenore Rodicio, Miami Dade College’s (MDC) executive vice president and provost, has been elected to the 114th Board of Directors of the Greater Miami Chamber of Commerce (GMCC), an association representing more than 400,000 employees of member companies and widely recognized and respected for its extraordinary record of economic development and community improvement for more than a century.

Dr. Rodicio officially joined the board during a recent virtual ceremony.

As a board member, Dr. Rodicio will support the GMCC’s mission to help members grow, improve and protect their companies and to building the best environment for businesses in the Americas, as well as improve the economic vitality of South Florida by educating and advocating for solutions to members’ business needs.

“It is a great honor to join the Greater Miami Chamber of Commerce, such a prestigious and longstanding pillar of support for the community,” Dr. Rodicio said. “I look forward to helping South Florida’s businesses grow and thrive.”

A nationally recognized leader in higher education, most of Dr. Rodicio’s work has focused on student access, success and achievement, the recruitment of underserved populations to the STEM fields, increased access to liberal education for all students and the continuous improvement of the teaching and learning process.

These improved outcomes have positioned MDC as first in the state and among the top four institutions nationally in increasing the economic mobility of its students.

In 2019, she was selected as a Miami Herald Influencer in recognition of her role and voice in higher education and named one of South Florida’s influential businesswomen by South Florida Business Journal in 2018. In 2017, she was named the In the Company of Women Outstanding Woman in Education Honoree by the Miami-Dade Commission for Women of Miami-Dade Parks.
