Miramar Community Garden members, affectionally called MOGs (Members Of Garden), demonstrate their resilience by continuing to give back to the community despite the temporary closure of the Garden grounds due to social distancing safety measures. During its ten-year tenure, the Garden program has cultivated civic engagement where members volunteer their time and knowledge to empower the community with know-how on the ability to grow their own nutritious fruits and vegetables.
September marks the beginning of the new planting season and Garden members mobilize by growing seedlings at home to later bring to the Garden. Just imagine, an army of MOGs growing seedlings at home… it’s a force multiplier! The seedlings will also be used at giveaways where the community will be able to receive healthy organic baby plants and education on how to grow at home.
