Miami Dade College (MDC) will host the 14th annual Future Bankers’ Camp and Financial Service Camp for high school students interested in careers within the financial services sector.
The program is a collaboration between MDC’s School of Global Business at Wolfson Campus, MDC’s School of Continuing Education and Professional Development, the Center for Financial Training International at MDC, CareerSource South Florida, the Cuban American National Council (CNC), Miami-Dade County Public School’s Academy of Finance, Rowan University – CHAMP/GEAR UP Program and Rutgers University.
The program’s educational component once again will take place virtually, while the internship portion will be a mix of virtual and face-to-face scenarios. The camp will culminate with a virtual graduation ceremony on Thursday, July 29.
Participants will receive Bank Teller Training. Upon completion of the camp, students are eligible to receive the American Bankers Association (ABA) Bank Teller Certificate. Students who graduate also will earn summer school credits and can apply for dual enrollment credits towards an associate degree in financial services from MDC and receive National Academy Foundation (NAF) Certification.
With 32 Miami and Camden, NJ banks/financial institutions supporting the Future Bankers’ Camp, this innovative program includes various educational opportunities for students to enhance their math, communication and financial literacy skills and attain industry certification with the goal of preparing them for college and careers in financial services.
This initiative also is aligned with the school district’s partnership and involvement in the One Community One Goal Targeted Industry Implementation Plan.
The Future Bankers’ Camp welcomes 100 students enrolled in Academy of Finance programs at Miami-Dade County Public High Schools, as well as visiting students from Camden, NJ. Local schools participating in the program include Barbara Goleman Senior High School, Coral Gables Senior High School, Coral Reef Senior High School, Dr. Michael M. Krop Senior High School, Hialeah Gardens Senior High School, North Miami Senior High School, South Dade Senior High School, Southwest Miami Senior High School, Sunset Senior High School and William H. Turner Technical Arts High School.
Participating banks and organizations include Amerant Bank, Apollo Bank, Bradesco Bac Florida Bank, Banco Pichincha, Banesco USA, Baptist Health South Florida FCU, City National Bank, FDIC, Federal Reserve Bank, FirstBank Florida, First National Bank of South Miami, Camden Banks – First Colonial Community Bank, M&T Bank, Republic Bank, South Jersey Federal Credit Union, Truist, Grove Bank & Trust, Helm Bank, Intercredit Bank, International Finance Bank, Jetstream Federal Credit Union, JP Morgan Chase & Co., Ocean Bank, Pacific National Bank, Popular Bank, Power Financial Credit Union, Professional Bank, Rialto Capitol Advisors, Regions, South Florida Banking Institute, Sunstate Bank, TD Bank, Wells Fargo Bank (Florida & NJ) and U.S. Century Bank.
The Miami-Dade County Public Schools Academy of Finance program is a member of the National Academy Foundation (NAF), a national network of career academies to support the development of America’s youth toward personal and professional success in high school, higher education and throughout their careers.
CareerSource South Florida is a public-private partnership and integral partner in Miami-Dade’s economic plan that initiates state and federally funded workforce development and training policies for Miami-Dade and Monroe counties. Additionally, South Florida Workforce services and resources are available to everyone at no cost through a network of Career Centers located throughout the Region.

The Center for Financial Training International at MDC provides financial services education, training and technology to financial services professionals throughout the United States and around the world. CFT is a national organization and the largest industry-sponsored adult education program in the world. CFT training and education programs provide job specific skills and knowledge to the financial services industry. CFT is the educational arm of the American Bankers Association and courses are part of a national continuing education curriculum. Completion of prescribed programs can lead to national industry-recognized ABA/CFT diplomas and certificates as well as assist in professional licensing requirements and meet college credit and degree requirements.
