Beth David Congregation, located in the Roads Area of Miami, recently announced the appointment of Stuart C. Rosenberg, CPA, as its new president.
Rosenberg grew up at Beth David.
“Going to Hebrew School, becoming a Bar Mitzvah, and attending confirmation class not only created precious, lifelong friendships, but are an important part of who I am today,” he said.
Three of his four children also went to Beth David, attending the Gordon Schools, which were founded by Rosenberg’s in-laws, Sam and Norma Gordon.
“We know that with his South Florida roots, his professional expertise, and his ties to Beth David, Stuart has the acumen and the heart to take good care of our congregation, and to help us to create a legacy for generations to come,” said Beth David’s rabbi, Julie Jacobs.
Rosenberg’s priority is to prepare for the future, evolving the school, programming, and facility for the next 50 years.
Pointing to Miami’s newest cultural centers, Rosenberg explained, “Our synagogue facility, built over 60 years ago, needs to change to meet the needs of our families.”
Expansion of the Gordon Schools will be key. Since opening in 1985, the schools have educated children from throughout Miami whose parents sought a rigorous and inclusive environment to bring out the best in their children. This now includes children on the autism spectrum.
Rosenberg also will coordinate with the creation of the Center for Jewish Life, which will coexist with the synagogue and its schools as a gathering place for central Miami’s diverse community, with flexible event spaces, athletic facilities, and a sanctuary with sound and light systems.
After retiring as a partner at MBAF following its acquisition by BDO, Rosenberg can fulfill a pledge that he made as a teenager, when he declared during a speech at Shabbat services that someday he hoped to “come back and give back.”
Rosenberg said, “Becoming president provides me with a unique opportunity to make a difference, some 45 years later.”
