The Greater Miami Chamber of Commerce (GMCC) announces the Alvah H. Chapman Jr. Awards in conjunction with the Henry M. Flagler Community Builder Award to take place on Wednesday, Dec. 8, from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at Jungle Island.
Due to the distinguished honorees, the GMCC is opening its Trustee Luncheon event to the public (non-members) for a discount price of $85 per person. The keynote speaker is Matt Haggman, executive vice president, Opportunity Miami, Miami-Dade Beacon Council, who will talk about “Building our Future, Together: Imagining Miami 2040.”
Alvah H. Chapman Jr. Award of Excellence recognizes the outstanding contributions to the development of Miami’s core business in three categories “Individual,” “Organization” and “Young Leader.” In addition, the Henry M. Flagler Community Builder Award, recognizes an individual who advances our community because of their vision and leadership. This years’ awardees are:
Individual: William D. Talbert, III, CDME, Special Advisor, Greater Miami Convention & Visitors Bureau (GMCVB);
Organization: Camillus House;
Young Leader: Frankie Ruiz, founder, Miami Marathon, and
Henry M. Flagler Community Builder Award Recipient: Lawrence H. “Larry” Adams.
These honorees will join a prestigious group of recipients which have been recognized since 2014, when Allen Morris and the Chamber created the award, for their contributions to the development of Miami’s central business core’s economy.
