Palmetto Bay’s District 1 Councilmember Patrick Fiore continued a yearly tradition he had started in 2010 by distributing food boxes to village residents on Sunday, Nov. 21. Mayor Karyn Cunningham accompanied Councilmember Fiore as she has in the past.
“I began this 11 years ago during my first term as councilmember,” Fiore said. “Mayor Cunningham joined me a few years later and was kind enough to help me continue the effort, even during the gap between my terms. We were able to provide 30 families with boxes of food from Christ Fellowship Church. There were also gift cards from Publix Supermarket.”
Fiore said that he wanted to acknowledge Ydania Peralta and her team of volunteers at Christ Fellowship Church for all their help in gathering the food donations and assembling the boxes.
Mayor Cunningham was pleased to take part in the distribution again.
“This is the 11th annual Thanksgiving Food Drive,” Cunningham said. “The initiative began with Councilmember Fiore and I have had the opportunity to participate with him since 2012. We are grateful for the collaboration with Christ Fellowship and Publix to be able to make the holidays a little easier for some of our Palmetto Bay families.”
