The 21st Annual Mayor’s Ball, hosted for the first time by Miami-Dade County Mayor Daniella Levine Cava, brought together more than over 600 community leaders to raise over $1.3 million to support United Way Miami’s work in education, financial stability and health.
The sold-out event took place at the Adrienne Arsht Center for the Performing Arts on Friday, Apr. 29, and celebrated the longstanding partnership between Miami-Dade County and United Way. Miami-Dade’s most influential leaders in business, government and philanthropy gathered and enjoyed a “Roaring ’20s” themed evening along with dancing, performances, food and music.
The night’s theme was centered around celebrating Miami-Dade’s resilience and honoring the heroes that have so bravely stepped up for the community throughout the challenges faced in the past two years. During the event, Mayor Levine Cava took a moment to acknowledge them and honored a group of frontline heroes including doctors, nurses, firefighters, paramedics and police officers.
“We are grateful to Mayor Levine Cava for her partnership in helping us build a stronger Miami,” said Joe Zubi, interim president and CEO at United Way Miami. “After a two-year hiatus, we were excited to have been able to gather and celebrate our community’s resilience and honor our exemplary heroes who make our community stronger for all.”
In addition to Mayor Daniella Levine Cava, notable guests included Mayor’s Ball fundraising host committee co-chairs Alex Heckler, Michael Llorente, José Pepe Badia, Jorge Perez, Jose Felix Diaz, Courtney Whitney, David Martin and Christian Ulvert.
