Memorial Day weekend was far from clear skies this past weekend, but if you’re a Miami native–then, you had probably already predicted a downpour this time of the year. However, that certainly did not stop South Florida reggae fans from attending the 16th annual ‘Best of the Best’ music festival which took place in Downtown Miami at Bayfront Park. Overlooking the waters of Biscayne Bay, ‘Best of the Best’ is a cultural experience with the most talented artists in Caribbean music.
This year’s lineup featured live performances by artists like Beres Hammond, Chris Martin, Mr.Vegas, and Laa Lee– to name a few. Partnered with Greater Miami Convention & Visitors Bureau, 103.5 The Beat, South Florida Caribbean News,WEDR-FM 99 Jamz, and many more, the festival was “back to normal” since Covid-19 restrictions were lifted. The festival also gave up and coming artists the opportunity to break through with beats the crowd had never experienced before.
With a diverse community of islanders ranging from Jamaica to Haiti to Trinidad and other islands that surround South Florida, the turnout of concert-goers was exceptional, despite the weather. Fans danced, laughed, and shared umbrellas as they watched Caribbean artists take the stage. As the festival gets back into the swing of things, next year should exceed expectations.
