The students are from the Big Brothers Big Sisters of Miami and Boys & Girls Clubs of Miami-Dade where Comcast has established Lift Zones, providing students with free WiFi in community centers to connect to the Internet to participate in virtual classes, complete schoolwork, and more.
The laptops will enable students to participate in Comcast NBCUniversal’s forthcoming “Jurassic World Rule Your Future STEAM Initiative,” which addresses the lack of STEAM preparation and digital skills among low-income and first-generation-to-college students. Additionally, Comcast is providing 1,000 Lift Zones across the country, including Big Brothers Big Sisters of Miami and Boys & Girls Clubs of Miami-Dade, with curated “Jurassic World Rule Your Future STEAM Initiative” activity kits. Each kit contains a variety of branded items and school supplies, including an Activity Book designed expressly for Lift Zone partners. The comprehensive initiative is designed to inspire today’s students to become the next generation of STEAM professionals.
