Congressman Mario Diaz-Balart is currently fulfilling his 10th term in the U.S. House of Representatives, serving Florida’s 25th congressional district.

First elected to congress in 2002 after 14 years in both the Florida Senate and the Florida House of Representatives, it is clear to see that Diaz-Balart is doing all he can to keep America strong, economically, and militarily. We certainly favor that, as well as his well-stablished advocacy of human rights and democracy around the world.

But here at home, we are most impressed with such recent efforts as the funding he was able to secure for FIU’s College of Arts, Sciences and Education’s Medina Aquarius Program instrumentation project. This important program monitors the ecological health of the Florida Keys and helps to ensure that the communities that depend on a healthy coastal ecosystem can continue to thrive.

Diaz-Balart also understands the unique role the Everglades plays in the local ecology. As co-chairman of the Everglades Caucus, he helped secure billions of dollars for the restoration of the Everglades.

Diaz-Balart also focuses on improving the local infrastructure so that Florida’s 25th District can compete in both the national and international marketplace for good paying jobs.

Diaz-Balart is a native of Ft. Lauderdale – the youngest of four brothers (Rafael, Lincoln, and Jose). He studied Political Science at the University of South Florida in Tampa, and  currently resides in Miami with his wife, Tia, and son, Cristian Rafael.

For Florida’s 25th Congressional District, Community Newspapers recommends Mario Diaz-Balart.
