Garden Club begins 98th season with ‘Holiday Floral Extravaganza,’ Nov. 4The Coral Gables Garden Club begins its 98th season with its first fundraiser, the “Holiday Floral Extravaganza,” on Nov. 4, at 10 a.m., at the Coral Gables Congregational United Church of Christ, 3010 Desoto Blvd.

This year’s show will feature the designs of master florist Mario Fernandez of Belle Fleur.

The CGGC raises funds for conservation and environmental projects, city of Coral Gables beautification projects, gardening therapy for the elderly, and scholarships for college and graduate students studying in the fields of the natural sciences.

“The funds raised from this event will help plant a pollinator garden at Camp Mahachee, a local Girl Scout camp serving the needs of Miami-Dade girls, filled with native trees, shrubs, orchids, and native ferns,” said club president Susan Rodriguez.

Watch as Fernandez shares the art of floral design and creates arrangements for the holidays. Browse Belle Fleur’s Pop-Up Floral Shop to create your own arrangement. Mario’s Floral Designs also will be raffled.

Enjoy a sparkling reception with sweet and savory delights, take home some goodies from the famous CGGC Bake Sale, and start your holiday shopping with beautiful gift items from the Fair-Trade shop.

“It’s a perfect way to kick off the holiday season,” said chair Marlene Riesco.

The ticket price is $50. Tickets can be purchased on the Coral Gables Garden Club website at www.coralgablesgardenclub.org/event/holiday-floral/ or directly on Eventbrite.
