Doug Flutie’s Florida Roots

Getting your Trinity Audio player ready...

Long before he threw the most famous Hail Mary pass in college football history, Flutie spent much of his childhood in Melbourne, FL leading his middle school team to 2 Brevard County championships. Born in Baltimore, he moved to Florida when his father took a job as an aerospace engineer. When the space program slowed down in the late 1970s, the Fluties moved to Natick, Massachusetts. It was there Flutie excelled as an undersized high school QB almost nobody wanted. Boston College was the only Division IA school to offer him a scholarship to play quarterback. The rest is history.
