Behind the glass walls of Ocean Bank’s headquarters in Miami there is a sparkle of celebration in the air as the private community bank recently marked 40 years of helping companies and families grow and prosper.

“Ocean Bank’s founders had a dream when they sat working with their employees inside the double-wide trailer parked where we are sitting now at our headquarters at LeJeune Road and NW Seventh Street. Would they be impressed to see how their dream grew and thrived if they were to walk through the door right now? It makes me proud to think so,” said Agostinho Alfonso Macedo, president, CEO and chair of the board.

The skyline and landscape of Miami are filled with success stories of businesses that thrived with financing from Ocean Bank — developers, builders, professionals, entrepreneurs.

The strength behind the success is funding people regardless of their background.

The idea was so successful, Ocean Bank today has 22 branches, more than $5.6 billion in assets, and is the largest independent, state-chartered commercial bank headquartered in Florida.

The secret behind Ocean Bank’s success has been the personal working relationships, with understanding and funding the business needs of clients at the core.

Service to the community, particularly in support of education, is one expression of the bank’s gratitude for its growth.

“We try to pay it forward in everything we do,” Macedo said.

Ocean Bank is the largest independent, state-chartered commercial bank headquartered in Florida, with $5.6 billion in assets. Chartered in 1982, Ocean Bank operates its network of 22 branches throughout Miami-Dade and Broward counties. The community bank has received numerous awards and accolades from the Greater Miami Chamber of Commerce, The Beacon Council and the Florida Department of Education, among others, for its support of South Florida communities.
