The Coral Gables Garden Club is hosting its second annual Fashions and Florals Spring Luncheon on Mar. 10 at the Biltmore Hotel featuring a fashion show of the Bohemian Chic clothing line from Johnny Was.
“We are so excited to collaborate with Johnny Was, who appreciates our mission of community outreach through education and supports our environment and conservation projects.” said club president Susan Rodriguez.
This fundraising event will help support the projects of the garden club, which include the habitat restoration project at Girl Scout Camp Mahachee, garden therapy programs for the disabled and the elderly, a scholarship program for college and graduate-level students studying in the fields of the natural sciences, landscape architecture, and design, to name a few.
The event will take place on Mar. 10, in the Country Club Ballroom at the Biltmore Hotel, beginning with a Champagne reception at 11 a.m. with fabulous silent auction items including a 10- to 12-day European cruise from the Celebrity Cruise line and a seven-day Caribbean cruise from Royal Caribbean. Great raffle prizes, beautiful and unique floral designs by the Designing Divas of the Garden Club, and a fun fashion show will round out the afternoon’s festivities.
Co-chairs Barbara Reese and Jo Peterson are chairing this fun event again and are thrilled with the generosity of Johnny Was and all the sponsors.
“Last year’s event was such a huge success that the garden club decided to host this event again. Guests will be treated to a lovely event in a beautiful garden ambiance,” Peterson said.
A kickoff party begins the collaboration at the Johnny Was store in Shops at Merrick Park on Friday, Mar. 3, from 5 to 7 p.m., where 10 percent of the sales will be donated to the Coral Gables Garden Club to support the club’s projects and programs.
Reese added, “The clothes are flattering on everybody’s shape and size, and the patterns filled with gorgeous flowers and butterflies that every woman will love.”
