The Delta Dental Community Care Foundation recently announced $910,000 in funding to nonprofit organizations in Florida through an Access to Care Grants Program intended to increase and safeguard access to quality, affordable oral health care.

The Community Care Foundation funds local community partners to increase access to care, address health disparities and drive health equity, and promote innovation in the oral health field. The grants enable its partners, which include Federally Qualified Health Centers and other nonprofits, to continue providing vital and beneficial services to those most in need in the communities they serve. In its 2022-23 grant cycle, the Community Care Foundation funding is focused on addressing the oral health crisis among older adults in the U.S., health equity, and rural oral health access.

One of those organizations is Camillus Health Concern (CHC), which provides comprehensive affordable primary care, oral health, behavioral health, and social services to those most vulnerable in Miami-Dade County. CHC has provided healthcare services to this population in Miami-Dade County for more than 30 years and is the only free-standing, comprehensive Healthcare for the Homeless funded provider in the region.

“With the very generous grant from Delta Dental Community Care Foundation, hundreds of our patients will receive much-needed dental services, including oral examinations, dental hygiene and education, temporary restorations, dentures, gum treatment, and extractions,” said Francis Afram-Gyening, CEO.

“This year’s grants center on partnerships with organizations and programs that will have a large impact on improving the health outcomes for various at-need populations, most notably senior adults,” said Kenzie Ferguson, vice president of foundation and corporate social responsibility for Delta Dental of California. “These important relationships enable us to achieve our broader mutual goals of increasing equity and access to dental healthcare, especially for the underserved, and helping to make the communities we serve strong, healthier and more resilient.”

“In support of Delta Dental’s mission to advance dental health and increase access to oral care, we are proud to provide much-needed support to nonprofit organizations in the communities where we live and work,” said Mike Castro, CEO for Delta Dental of California.

“This vital funding honors our core value of service and helps us deliver on our vision to take exceptional care of all our stakeholders.”
