UVA Art Gallery is pleased to participate in the Coral Gables Art Walk event that will be
taking place next Friday March the Third. In March UVA also honors women, featuring the
works of strong women in a special exhibit titled: “The Feminine Creations,” which will run
through the 24th of March.
Women, like multitalented Arantxa X Rodríguez who not only cultivates the next
generation of artists, but also has made the world her canvas, and her skin a living expression of her love for country and the essence of her soul. Natasha Perdomo, who paints with words on a text just as easily as she does with oils on a canvas. Diana “Didi” Contreras, whose brush seamlessly moves between the volatility of NFTs to the solid expression of Urban Art and Galleries.
Ivonne Ingrid Schmalbach whose work, filled with symbolisms and veiled cameos figures
in her canvas, is characterized by her collection of Pacha Mamas – the indigenous goddess of the peoples of the Andes, reflects the artist’s passion for Latin America. And multi-disciplinary artist Consuelo Castañeda, who was part of the Cuban avant-garde of the 80s, helping shift popular understanding of the relationship between art and politics in Cuba and, by extension through Latin America. Lina Condes an American artist born in Ukraine. Her work: a concept sprinkled with attributes of minimalism, surrealism, and pop art dipped in social and psychological content. The lineup is completed by Ivonne Ferrer and Laura Espinosa Bosch, who will be presenting their latest works.
