South Florida’s favorite not-for-profit pet rescue organization, PAWS4you Rescue, hosted its annual fundraiser at the JW Marriott Miami.

This year’s Motown-themed fundraiser aimed to capture the hearts of animal lovers everywhere in hopes of supporting the organization’s mission of saving South Florida’s dogs and cats from euthanasia while encouraging donations to help fund the renovation of its nearly 6,000-square-foot facility where its rescued animals are nursed back to health and housed until they are placed in loving homes. More than $100,000 was raised at the event.

“We are truly grateful to everyone that has donated and supported us in our mission of saving the lives of rescued animals and ensuring they get the proper care and medical attention they need to be brought back to health and then placed in loving homes,” said Carol Caridad, founder and executive director of Paws4you Rescue. “This year, we are also making a concerted effort to raise enough capital within the next couple of years so that we can renovate our rescue facility where we provide medical care and homes for our rescues.”

The glitterati, red-carpet event also included a cocktail reception, a formal dinner, a silent auction as well as a live auction that included memorabilia used and signed by Elvis Presley, members of The Beatles, and exotic vacation packages, which were presented by OneCause, and auctioneer Dwayne Dixon. Norma Jean Abraham, from Anthony Abraham Foundation was named the evening’s special honoree.

The Motowners gave a spectacular live performance and played tributes from the classic Motown years including hits by the Temptations, The Four Tops, Diana Ross and The Supremes, Smokey Robinson, Marvin Gaye, Stevie Wonder and many more.

Emmy-award-winning journalist and news anchor Cynthia Demos and renowned radio disc jockey from 101.5 Lite FM Julie Guy served as the event’s emcee for the star-studded affair. Sponsors of the event included the Anthony Abraham Foundation, First National Bank of South Miami, Tito’s Vodka, Pai-Shau, Rymax, BioCell Wellnes Center, and Dr. Deborah Longwill.

The annual gala raises funds for PAWS4you in support of its mission to save dogs from the threat of euthanasia. PAWS4you serves the community by rescuing abandoned and neglected animals, while nurturing them back to health through love and medical care. Paws4you is currently seeking additional donations to raise capital to renovate its existing facility, which is nearly 50 years old.

PAWS4You’s chairs, Ann Rubino and Kathy Cowan, as well as this year’s honoree member, Norma Jean Abraham, upped the ante by making this gala one of the most celebrated fundraising events in South Florida.
