CGWC celebrated its Centennial President’s Reception honoring Ruth Martinez, who is serving her second two-year term. Ruth has Mexican roots which provided a great theme for a dinner/dance in her honor on Mar. 25, held at the club’s historic clubhouse.
Coyo Taco generously donated an impressive Mexican dinner that was complemented by Margaritas, Mariachis and, following dinner, DJ Johnny for dancing.
Kudos to Carmen Suarez who coordinated this affair to create a night to remember for Ruth, husband Sam, son Carlos and his wife Emma, as well as all who attended.
It was a colorful evening with most everyone dressed in bright colors and several adorned with their Frida Kahlo style floral headpieces.
Among the many attending the event were GFWC District 11 director Virginia Yermoli; CGWC past presidents Barbara Lapsley, Arely Ruiz, Linda Hartwell, and Mayra Dominguez; Carol Nobles, president of Coco Plum Woman’s Club; Helen Tarbart, president of Northeast Woman’s Club; Lavette Moore, president of Woman’s Club of Historic Overtown Village Inc., and Brandy Ramirez, past president of Homestead Woman’s Club.
Other members joining the fun night were Rita and Saesha Tennyson, Ann Ryan, Margarette Beauchamp, Ana Lam, Kristina Jackson, Dr. Iris Torres with husband Ralph Rivera, Luisaura Alvarez, Leticia Matheus, Monica Uramis with hubby, Carol Horkowitz, Frances Cabrera with her new husband, and Donna Myrill.
