Miren Oca, owner of Ocaquatics Swim School, was elected Vice-President of U.S. Swim School Association Board of Directors. She will serve in this capacity for a term of 2 years at which point she will assume the presidency of the association for an additional 2 years. The results were announced at the 23rd Annual National Conference in Orlando, Florida. The U.S. Swim School Association has more than 400 swim school members throughout the U.S. and abroad. Their goal is to support the aquatic education and water safety and drowning prevention efforts of their members.
Oca has been a member of the USSSA since 1994 and served as a Board of Directors member from 2005 to 2008. She also sits on the Board of the Miami Dade Drowning Prevention Coalition and the national Swim for Life Foundation. She is also a member of the National Drowning Prevention Alliance.
Oca started Ocaquatics Swim School in 1994. In July 2009, Oca opened her own indoor, state-of-the-art facility which is housed in Kendall. She also has locations at Gulliver Academy and the University of Miami Wellness Center. Currently, her programs teach 1500 students per week.
