The City of West Park is pleased to announce the substantial completion of the SW 25th Street Complete Street Improvement project.  This project marks the successful completion of the first of twelve (12) surtax funded projects outlined in the City’s Capital Improvement Plan.

The project added bike lanes, roadway resurfacing, traffic calming, drainage, sidewalk and parking improvements, and pavement marking and signing from SW 40th Avenue to South SR7/US 441.  These additions were implemented to calm traffic and improve the safety of the roadway for vehicles, pedestrians, and cyclists.

With the successful completion of SW 25th Street, the city is poised to receive additional surtax funding for construction of other major capital improvement projects including SW 21st Street and SW 48th Avenue Complete Street Improvements scheduled to begin in fiscal year 2024.

The total project budget was $2.18 million. Construction began in June, 2022, and despite challenges associated with supply chain and weather-related delays, was substantially completed on time and within budget.  The State of Florida licensed participants included H.G. Construction, Development, and Investment, Inc (General Contractor), R.J. Behar & Associates, Inc. (Engineer of Record), and the construction engineering inspection (CEI) team of EAC Consulting, Inc., Momentum CEI, Inc., and Holt Communications, Inc.

The MAP Broward Office and the Broward County Office of Economic and Small Business Development both expressed gratitude to the City of West Park and its prime CEI consultant (EAC) for the utilization of certified small businesses, also known as County Business Enterprise (CBE) firms, to deliver positive impact to OESBD, the Transportation Surtax, and the overall effort to promote CBEs.

The City of West Park extends a special “thank you” to residents and local businesses for their patience and cooperation with construction efforts, and to Broward County MAP staff for their assistance and guidance throughout this process.

Additional information about the project can be found on the city’s website at: www.cityofwestpark.org.
