The County has won 24 National Association of County Information Officers (NACIO) Awards of Excellence in 2023, more than any other county in the country. This includes seven Best in Class awards. The annual competition recognizes the quality of public information and education outreach campaigns by County governments.
Eleven Broward County agencies were recognized including Animal Care, Broward County Transit, Building Code Division, Cultural Division, Human Resources Division, Natural Resources Division, Office of Economic and Small Business Development, Office of Public Communications, Parks and Recreation Division, Port Everglades and Resilient Environment Department.

Seven Best in Class Awards
- Animal Care: Kitten Care Program (Campaigns – Community Engagement category)
- Broward County Transit: Late Shift Connect Program (Social Media – Multi-Platform Campaign category)

NACIO is an affiliate of the National Association of Counties (NACo). The County also received 17 NACo awards in 2023, which recognize innovative, effective and efficient County Commission programs and services.
