Treatment of a stroke is often a race against time. Minorities, women, older adults on Medicare and residents of rural areas are less likely to receive a stroke diagnosis within the critical window for receiving treatment.

Min Chen, associate professor of information systems and business analytics at FIU Business, explains the research behind a machine-learning algorithm that can more quickly diagnose stroke patients before the results of laboratory tests or diagnostic images are available.
