The City of Fort Lauderdale and FG Construction (FGC) will be cleaning the stormwater management system in the Melrose Park neighborhood. As a result of the April 12, 2023, flash flood event, sediment and debris may have accumulated within the underground pipes, affecting their efficiency and capacity. Through this project, crews will inspect and clean the system to ensure that it functions optimally, reducing the risk of flooding.
To minimize disruptions and ensure smooth traffic flow, this project will be completed in five phases to address the 11+ miles of underground stormwater pipes. This project will begin on Monday, August 21, 2023, and is expected to be completed in December 2023. Work will take place Monday through Friday between 7 a.m. and 6 p.m. This schedule is subject to change based on inclement weather or other unforeseen circumstances.
Traffic Impacts
- Limited lane closures are expected as the contractor will be working primarily within the shoulder of all neighborhood streets.
- Access to driveways will be maintained.
- Please follow posted signs and drive with caution in the area.
We apologize in advance for any inconvenience and thank our neighbors for their patience during this project. To learn more about this project and see progress updates, visit fgconstruction.com/melrose.
