Rotary District 6990 Governor Barbara Gobbi invites Rotarians to access its centralized website at https://rotaryfl.org/rotary-florida-disaster-relief/ where individuals and companies can sign up to volunteer and/or donate directly districts impacted by Hurricane Idalia. It will also serve for those districts in need, to request assistance. Gobbi, whose Rotary International District 6990 cover notes, “The devastation caused by Hurricane Idalia has deeply impacted several districts in our beloved state of Florida. I have been in daily briefings with all of the governors throughout Florida, and it is clear that the recovery process will be extensive and will require our collective efforts.”
In District 6990’s commitment to support impacted areas, all Florida districts are collaborating on a unified effort. They are rapidly developing this website to respond to the urgency of the situation and the web development team is prioritizing the hardest-hit areas first.
Barbara Gobbi advised they have established a partnership with Disaster Aid USA, a Rotary-approved organization. They have already positioned six disaster response trailers throughout the west coast and panhandle of Florida. These trailers are equipped and ready to clear debris, muck and gut homes, tarp homes, and more. They are in dire need of volunteers to assist with cleanup efforts, offer meals to volunteers, and provide other essential services.
