Brazilian Voices, the acclaimed female vocal group, presents “” This event sponsored in part by the National Endowment for the Arts (NEA) consists of two interactive performances with songs with original arrangements. These performances are made possible through the Cultural Arts Partnership Program (CAP@SRT), a collaborative initiative by Fantasy Theatre Factory to enhance cultural engagement at the Sandrell Rivers Theater.

Both performances will portray the strengths and threats of the Amazon Rainforest. Through music, MC’s comments, and screen images by the Brazilian artist Ernesto Kunde the group will spread awareness of the importance of the Amazon rainforest, the Everglades, and the planet’s ecosystem.

The concerts will take place at the Sandrell Rivers Theater, located in the heart of Miami – Liberty City. In these concerts the audience will engage and sing along with a band composed of guitar, piano, bass, and drums, and 10 to 15 Brazilian Voices singers. The group will invite the students and families to join the singers and musicians on stage and learn how to play a series of different percussion instruments.

The performance project includes a visual arts component with the participation of two Brazilian artists residing in Miami. Clara Piquet will exhibit her paintings at the gallery lobby, which will include themes on Brazilian indigenous communities and the environment. Ernesto Kunde, a visionary artist renowned for his transformative prowess, skillfully captures dynamic landscapes on canvas, wood, and aluminum. Beyond aesthetics, Kunde’s mission extends deeper—he aspires to awaken consciousness about evolving environments.

The first session for around 200 field trip students from Miami-Dade County will be held at 10:00AM.   The second session at 7:30pm will be for general audiences with ticket prices at $25.

The second performance will highlight the group’s noted strengths: a powerful interpretation by female voices, rich bossa nova harmonies and a passionate approach. There is a delightful fluidity and warmth

to their singing in a poetic tribute to the Brazilian composers: Tom Jobim, Dori Caymy, Sergio Mendes, and Marisa Monte, among others.

“We’re not just representing Brazilian music & culture, we’re also representing women and immigrants,” said Loren Oliveira, Brazilian Voices’ project director

“There’s always hope that through music we’re creating a sense of understanding and respect for the Amazon Forest, the Everglades and its native population,” said Beatriz Malnic, Brazilian Voices’ music director.
