In Miami, concern is rapidly growing among residents about the imminent vote on the Miami Wild water park and family attraction project set to be built on the same property as Zoo Miami. A Change.org petition warns that Zoo Miami is a critically endangered habitat under threat, and residents are deeply worried about the potential consequences should the Miami Wild development happen so close to the property.

Local petition starter Bryan Gutierrez Curdi says the new development would endanger countless plant and animal species that rely on Zoo Miami for their survival. The community recognizes that the project’s unchecked advancement could result in irreversible habitat destruction and a devastating loss of biodiversity.

“As a resident of Miami, Florida, I am deeply concerned about the potential development of the Miami Wild project near Zoo Miami,” Bryan writes. “This critically endangered habitat is not only home to a diverse range of species but also plays a vital role in preserving our natural heritage. It is crucial that we take immediate action to protect this precious ecosystem and prevent irreversible damage.”

Nearly 1500 residents are rallying together to protect this vital ecosystem, and their petition continues to grow. Their urgency lies in the impending vote, set to take place at a commission meeting later this month, underlining what they say is an immediate need for collective action to safeguard this endangered environment before it’s too late.
