In Episode 8 of the “Silent Struggle). Detective Tim Putney of the Wichita County Sheriff’s Office, in Texas, joins Robert Asencio and David Magnusson in a continuing discussion about mental health and the steps that may bring assistance and relief to those in need of it.  Furthermore, and as importantly, where exactly to find such help. that is available if only one can find it.  Detective Putney’s story is very compelling.  What started as a severe in the line of duty related physical injury manifested itself into a severe mental health issue that led him into considering suicide.  The discussion shows just how what seemingly appeared to be a lack of care (in the medical sense) from his police agency (prior to getting a helping, welcoming hand from the Wichita County Sheriff’s Office) sent him in a downward spiral until The Wounded Blue Organization (https://thewoundedvblue.org/ picked him up. (1-844-892-4376)

The Wounded Blue helps law enforcement (both active and retired) to find assistance via a peer advocate support program with a goal of de-stigmatizing mental health within the law enforcement community.

Detective Putney discusses a very inspiring turnaround with words of wisdom for the audience in regard to the struggles he faced and how he got through them.  But it does not stop there.  Detective Putney as paid it forward.  And now he serves as a Peer Team Lead for The Wounded Blue while back “on the job.”

As the detective so astutely stated, “seek help” and “find a good therapist.”  The advice he gives on the show is from the heart, emotional, and spot on. Detective Putney is a hero seeking ways to keep his brothers and sister in blue from a danger often not visible to the naked eye.   A must see for those who protect and serve.

His message is not just for law enforcement either.  The words he proffers can help everyone, from all walks of life.  They are that transferable.  It is all about getting solid information and moving forward toward getting back on track (and getting one’s life back).
