Host Robert Asencio and co-host David Magnusson used “The Silent Struggle’s) tenth episode as a road map of sorts. There were no guests slated for this episode. Rather, a robust discussion took place regarding “Breaking the Stigma.”
Mental health and mass shootings. A fact or a stigma that often associates with those with Mental Health issues? The discussion is made. The conversation shifts into the issues law enforcement personnel run across during the course of their day-to-day activities. How do they process it? How have police learned to deal with those in mental crisis when confronting them on the street?
How can stressors be lessened? The answers are all intertwined with the previous nine episodes. It guides the show into Episode 11 and beyond. The struggle will remain. That is not the gist of the show. It does not disappear overnight and takes great efforts by all to lessen the severity. However, both Asencio and Magnusson strongly believe that the word “silent” can evaporate, and with that evaporation can come a clear path to greater understanding, compassion and empathy.
“The Silent Struggle” wants your feedback. What issues are important to you, the viewer, that you feel need to be dissected? Like a maze, progressing from one point to the other may not seem as simple as it looks. It will take time and a strong-willed determination to make sense of it all. But ultimately, the end will be found.
