The Miami-Dade County Community Action and Human Services Department (CAHSD) and its Community Action Agency Board (CAA) are recruiting new board members. The mission of the CAA is “to empower economically disadvantaged individuals, families and communities through advocacy, education, resource mobilization and service delivery.”

There are currently 10 vacancies in the Community Interests and Organizations sector of the CAA Board, which represent the following categories: Industry, Religion, Social Welfare, Business, Education, Law Enforcement, Labor, and Legal. The term of office is two years and CAA Board members serve without compensation. The CAA Board meets 10 times per year and members are encouraged to be involved in at least one committee on a regular basis. Committees include Executive, Finance, Advocacy, and Youth Initiatives.

“Empowering our community starts with the recruitment in our board,” said CAHSD director Sonia Grice. “We recognize that their involvement is the key to unlocking the full potential of collective action and driving positive change.”

Applications by interested candidates are being accepted. To apply, candidates must complete a board nomination form and provide a resume. All application materials should be submitted to the Miami-Dade Community Action and Human Services Department, located at 701 NW First Court, Overtown Transit Village North, 10th Floor, Miami, Florida 33136 (attention Roselica Hall) or via email to roselica.hall@miamidade.gov.

It is the responsibility of the applicant to ensure electronic receipt of their application by contacting the CAHSD at 786-469-4758. All resumes and board nomination forms must be received or postmarked by Dec. 15, 2023. The CAA Board’s nominating committee will contact selected applicants for further consideration of service on the board.
