Coming on the heels of “The Silent Struggle’s” Episode 13 with Willard Shepard of NBC 6, last week, it was decided that a continuation of the discussion regarding mental health and the role the media has in it by way of their reporting, was in the best interest of the viewers. It is a topic that demands follow up. And who better to discuss and debate the issues, than Manny Munoz of 610 WIOD.
The Manny Munoz show is on each weekday from 1000-1200 hours. He covers a wide array of different issues at each show, with a multitude of informative guests that come on his show. One such show, a few months ago, had “The Silent Struggle’s” Robert Asencio and David Magnusson on to discuss mental health issues and the impact it has upon the law enforcement and military communities. His concern for the well-being of law enforcement and the military regarding the issues they both face is well-known. As such this made him the perfect guest to follow with a discussion that began in Episode 13.
Manny, in his show, allows for all opinions, and holds true to his adage that he wants to “open up the viewers; eyes so they can see both sides of the issue.” All eyes and ears were open for today’s episode which looked at several issues involving mental health and a robust discussion ensued revolving around media and how it reports the news (nationally). Does it cause more angst, more mental health issues?
What is your opinion? This episode will allow you to look at all sides and formulate one with this caveat: Things do not look like they are going to get better any time soon.
