The Community Action and Human Services Department (CAHSD) will honor older adult residents in Miami-Dade County for exceptional volunteer service through the “Seniors Who Serve” volunteer program.

Nominations are open now and will close Jan. 31, 2024. CAHSD’s Elderly and Disabilities Services (EDS) Division is leading efforts by accepting applications online at https://www.miamidade.gov/global/socialservices/seniors-who-serve-awards.page.

“Miami-Dade County is better every day thanks to the invaluable contributions of our older adults,” said Miami-Dade County Mayor Daniella Levine Cava. “In their legacies, we find the strength to build a brighter future for generations to come.”

Eligible nominees must be Miami-Dade County residents who are 60 years of age or older and have completed some form of volunteer service within Miami-Dade County. Volunteers can be nominated by county residents, elected officials, a public or non-profit organization, or through self-nomination. Volunteer programs through RSVP

The Retired & Senior Volunteer Program (RSVP) provides individuals ages 55 and older with the opportunity to dedicate their time, skills, and expertise. The program empowers the community and supports its needs while providing a high-quality experience for the volunteers.

RSVP is a nationwide initiative supported by AmeriCorps Seniors, a federal agency, and at the local level by CAHSD. Collaborations are established with non-profit organizations and healthcare providers to identify areas of critical need within their communities and determine how volunteers can effectively address them.
