The Humane Society of Greater Miami has joined forces with Friends of Miami Animals Foundation Inc. (FoMA) once again to spay and neuter more pets across Miami-Dade.
Thanks to a $42,500 grant from the foundation, the Humane Society is able to perform 300 spay or neuter surgeries for large dogs, puppies over 4 months of age, and community cats. The services are free for anyone currently receiving government assistance. The grant also assists the organization in spaying and neutering community cats.
This very generous assistance has helped many low-income pet owners in need of these services while helping the community reduce the number of homeless pets roaming the streets.
“Pet abandonment continues to be a huge concern at our shelter, especially for large dogs,” said Jossie Aguirre, executive director at the Humane Society of Greater Miami. “This worthwhile assistance from FoMA will help make spay/neuter services more accessible to people around the community and prevent more unwanted litters from being born and left without a home.”
To take advantage of the free and low-cost spay/neuter services offered at the Humane Society of Greater Miami’s Gardnar Mulloy Pet Rescue Clinic, call 305-749-1827. You also can make an appointment online by visiting www.humanesocietymiami.org. The Gardnar Mulloy Pet Rescue Clinic is located at 16101 W. Dixie Hwy. in North Miami Beach.
