The 2024 Nissan Frontier SV is powerful, affordable, great buy

Starting at $34,000, the 2024 Nissan Frontier Crew Cab SV Long Bed 4×4 is an affordable pickup with a reminder of the line’s past success.

Frontier enters the new model year with a throwback touch in the shape of the Hardbody Edition, a nostalgic tribute to the original Nissan Hardbody pickup of the 1980s that is sure to connect with many generations. Available on Frontier SV Crew Cab 4×4, the Hardbody Edition features heritage-styled 17-inch wheels, retro-inspired decals, all-terrain tires, a sport bar, black exterior trim and other great design features. The limited-edition package is priced at $3,900.

An aluminum skid plate, black over-fenders, a black side rail, mud flaps and a bed-mounted sport bar contribute to the retro-rugged look. Just like its ’80s namesake, the Hardbody Edition wears black-painted bumpers, mirrors, door handles and grille.

Completing the package, the truck wears black graphics that deliver throwback cool, with a large “4×4” logo on the front doors and a tailgate graphic that features a cut-out “Nissan” logo, replacing the truck’s typical Nissan tailgate emblem.

The 2024 Frontier also adds an SL grade on Crew Cab models. It bundles several appealing features, such as LED lighting, leather-appointed seating, a Fender 10-speaker audio system, and more. This reflects customer interest in a highly equipped midsize truck.

Frontier keeps drivers informed, entertained and connected with convenient technology and advanced driver assistance features. It starts with a seven-inch drive-assist display and an eight-inch infotainment touchscreen, with a nine-inch infotainment screen available, as well. Both Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are included as standard for convenient smartphone connectivity, with wireless Apple CarPlay included on the PRO-grade models. A wireless device charging pad also helps keep phones charged without cables on the PRO-grade models.

The 2024 Nissan Frontier offers an array of bed lengths, drive train configurations and grades so that shoppers can pick the model that suits their needs, including the PRO-X and PRO-4X that whet the appetites of those heading off-road. The Frontier King Cab is offered with a six-foot bed, the Crew Cab S and PRO-X/PRO-4X models feature a five-foot bed and the Crew Cab SV, which is what I drove, is offered with either a five-foot or a -foot bed.

Additionally for 2024, available NissanConnect Services now includes a three-year trial, up from a six-month trial previously. The telematics feature works with the MyNISSAN smartphone app and includes remote door lock/unlock, remote engine start/stop, vehicle health report, emergency calling and Nissan Skill for Amazon Alexa2.

The 2024 Nissan Frontier has a strong foundation that helps it live up to customer demands. Capable performance comes from a standard 310-horsepower, 3.8-liter direct-injection V6 engine, paired with a nine-speed automatic transmission. Coupled with the truck’s tough, fully boxed ladder frame, the powertrain helps enable a towing capacity of up to 6,640 pounds. The engine also delivers 17 miles per gallon in the city and 22 miles per gallon on the highway.
