Jackson Health Foundation hosted its annual Golden Angels Gala on April 27 at Ice Palace Studios in Miami. The gala recognized Jackson Health System’s critical contributions to the community, and celebrated the Golden Angel Society, the Foundation’s premier giving group, for their significant philanthropic impact in supporting Jackson’s mission.

The event brought together more than 750 guests, including corporate partners, philanthropists and community leaders, for a memorable evening dedicated to honoring generosity. The community tastemakers present included Miami-Dade County Mayor Daniella Levine Cava, Miami-Dade County Public Schools Superintendent Jose L. Dotres, City of Coral Gables Mayor Vince Lago, among others. Six million dollars were raised through the generous contributions of the attendees.

The gala highlighted the success of the Foundation’s One Day for Jackson, a new annual day of giving campaign that brought the community together in support of Jackson – a nonprofit academic medical system and the only public healthcare system in Miami-Dade County. One Day for Jackson raised more than $550,000 on April 4, 2024.

“We are overwhelmed with the generous contributions from our donors who continue to support Jackson to fulfill its mission to provide a single, high standard of quality care for the residents of Miami-Dade,” said Carlos A. Migoya, president and CEO of Jackson. “Their dedicated efforts and generosity have allowed Jackson to remain competitive with state-of-the-art facilities and technology to help us optimize what we do best – provide world renowned medical care.”

In addition to celebrating the success of One Day for Jackson, VUMI Group, a leading international healthcare company, announced a major $4 million gift to support the exceptional care being delivered at Jackson Memorial Hospital and José Milton Memorial Hospital at Jackson West Medical Center. One lucky guest also had the exclusive chance to win a state-of-the-art, all-electric 2024 Audi Q4 e-tron quattro, donated by THE COLLECTION.

“We are immensely grateful to our donors who support Jackson’s mission of providing world-class healthcare for all of Miami-Dade County,” said Flavia Llizo, Jackson Health Foundation co-president and chief development officer. “Through the generosity of compassionate donors, we are able to secure funds to enhance Jackson’s facilities, provide the most advanced technology, and support vital projects. These contributions allow us to deliver life-saving medical care to all patients, regardless of financial need, improve healthcare delivery, enrich the patient experience, and promote wellness and preventive medicine.”

With more than $215 million raised since the inception of the Foundation, it continues to expand its indelible impact on Miami-Dade community. The Foundation raises funds exclusively for Jackson to bridge funding gaps for major capital projects, critical areas, and programmatic needs to support patient care.  Funds will support projects like the expansion and renovation of the new emergency room at Jackson Memorial Hospital, anticipated to be the largest in the nation, as well as other areas of need that will help Jackson advance, expand, and innovate.

The Golden Angels Gala owes its success to the unwavering dedication of Gala Committee members –
Trish and Dan Bell, Jerry Cody, Bert De Armas, Jeannie Etter, David Coulson, Dr. Maya Ghaemmaghami, and Ana and Cecil Milton – as well as the generous support of its sponsors: Platinum level by Southern Glazer’s Wine and Spirits, THE COLLECTION; Gold level by Winston & Strawn LLP; Silver level by Florida National University; Bronze level by Trish and Dan Bell, The Gorson Family, Greenberg Traurig, José Milton Family Foundation, and West Coast University; event support from Nestle, Buckner, Shifrin, Etter, Dugan & Bradfute, P.A., David Coulson and Jeannie Etter, Constellation Culinary Group, Knight Parking Systems, and Nicole Holtz and the Holtz Family; and media partners including Miami Herald/El Nuevo Herald, Miami Kids Magazine, and S Revista.
