Van Orsdel Funeral & Cremation Services, a pillar of compassion and support in the Miami community, is celebrating a monumental 100 years of service throughout 2024. This significant anniversary marks a century of unwavering dedication, empathetic care and steadfast support to families in their times of greatest need.
The company recently hosted a 100th anniversary celebration and open house at its location at 11220 N. Kendall Dr., to honor the past century of service and look to the future. The event brought together local community members, funeral industry professionals, community leaders and local businesses in a commemoration of Van Orsdel’s enduring legacy and commitment to the South Florida community.
“How did we make it to 100 years — the 100,000 families that have entrusted their loved ones to us,” Van Orsdel CEO Donald Van Orsdel said to the more than 150 people attending the anniversary event on Apr. 18. “The determination of our family to keep serving this community no matter the obstacles, our faith, and our staff who work 24/7 to help our families,”
Van Orsdel Funeral & Cremation Services, with four locations, is the oldest funeral home in South Florida and remains one of the last of the family-owned in the community. The company’s legacy is firmly anchored in the history of South Florida.
Van Orsdel has been instrumental in celebrating and preserving the legacies of Miami’s most storied residents, such as Edward Rickenbacker, Charlie Crandon, Marjorie Stoneman Douglas, Joe DiMaggio and Don Shula, among many others.
“Your stories, your tears, your laughter have all woven the fabric of our history,” said Crystal Van Orsdel Marchant, assistant vice president representing the fourth generation of the Van Orsdel legacy. “In a world that is constantly changing, we are also very grateful that you’ve chosen to support us. It is the support of local businesses like ours that sustains the essence of our neighborhoods, fostering connection and belonging.”
