Current School Board member Lucia Baez-Geller is seeking a congressional seat. Baez-Geller supports former State Representative and North Bay Village Mayor Joseph Geller to succeed her on the board. Martin Karp seeks a return to the school board. Karp opted not to run for re-election four years ago amidst an investigation of impropriety by him and his office. The investigation casts doubt on his integrity and ability to uphold the trust placed in public officials. Specifically, the OIG Report concluded that actions taken by Karp’s office cost the tax payers over a million dollars and “jeopardized the safety of students”. This alone should be disqualifying.
