If I were still buying Hot Wheels, the 2024 Mustang Dark Horse Coupe would be my top pick.
It looks sleek and reminds me of the fastback I used to love when, as a kid, I dreamed of the cars I would drive when I was older. This is no coincidence. Ford has been working for years on making this both reminiscent and future-looking and I think the 2024 Mustang has achieved it in all its glory.
Starting at $59,000, the six-speed Mustang Dark Horse Coupe has a powerful Gen 4 5.0-liter modified Coyote V8 engine with 500 horsepower and 418 pound-feet of torque. It looks like the evolution of this sportster into a level that is competitive with every single popular speedster on the street.
One of the things I really like is the steering wheel because that is a focal point of your handling when driving. I think the overall branding in the 2024 Mustang is phenomenal, including where you steer. A shiny, big horse emblem is stamped into the horn mechanism at the center of the wheel. A flat-bottom steering wheel offers precise, racing-inspired control.
For the interior, you can choose from six unique environments for a refined look to suit your style. Details include available accent-color safety belts and stitching throughout the cabin.
The 2024 Mustang has a 12.4-inch LCD digital cluster with a 13.2 center touch screen featuring video game-like graphics with attention grabbing colors and screens that are easily customizable. Track apps display your performance metrics in the instrument cluster that can be used to improve your driving experience as you drive.
Easily access smartphone apps on the go with the standard wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. You also can power up your compatible smartphone with no cord required, which is a great convenience feature.
There is the sound system by Bang & Olufsen, with 12 speakers, including a subwoofer, providing an immersive audio experience you can hear and feel.
The technology is great, too. The available adaptive cruise control allows you to control your distance between you and the car ahead. They slow up and you do, too. After things clear, your speed resumes, making it one of the more interesting features of any car I have driven.
Drawing on almost six decades of engineering and design excellence, the 2024 Mustang lineup is sculpted to maximize traction, handling, speed and fun. The 2024 Ford Mustang coupe features a distinctive front end with instantly recognizable tri-bar LED headlamps.
The Dark Horse also has specialized badging throughout — including a unique chassis number for a one-of-a-kind appearance.
I really enjoyed driving the 2024 Mustang Dark Horse, which makes me want to get behind the wheel as soon as possible. Give it a drive and tell me what you think.
