The Deering Estate “Contemporary Currents” series is an annual program that integrates contemporary art with collections and historic houses. Artists are selected from the roster of past and current Artists-in-Residence at the Deering Estate to display their work on the second floor of the Richmond Cottage for a three to six-month period.
For the upcoming exhibition, the Deering Estate will feature new work by Enma Saiz (Deering Estate Artist-in-Residence, 2024). The exhibition titled “Deering Tiles” consists of mural tiles designed and created by the artist based on the rich archeological, cultural, architectural, and botanical history of the estate.
“Deering Tiles” will be on view from Aug. 15 to Oct. 31 in the Garden Room of the Richmond Cottage at Deering Estate. An opening reception for the artist will take place on Saturday, Aug. 17, from 3 to 5 p.m.
Tickets for the opening reception are available by donation on Eventbrite.com.
Enma Saiz is a LatinX, multi-disciplinary visual artist working in sculpture and installation.
The highlights of her career include having been selected by Oolite Arts to join other artists from Miami at Anderson Ranch Arts Center in February 2022. She graduated with an MFA in studio art from SAIC in 2020. Through her practice, Enma explores her concerns/“inquietudes” about social justice, health and environmental issues.
The Deering Estate is located at 16701 SW 72 Ave. in Palmetto Bay.
