Metrorail increases weekend frequency to improve service

The Department of Transportation and Public Works (DTPW) is making improvements to Metrorail weekend service.

The Metrorail service adjustments being implemented are:
• Scheduled weekend Green Line frequency will improve from 30 minutes to 15 minutes.

• During single tracking on weekends, Green Line trains will run every 20 minutes. Frequencies during single tracking are approximate and subject to change.

• For passengers heading to and from Miami International Airport on weekends, an airport train shuttle will continue to run every 15 minutes between Earlington Heights and Airport Metrorail station.

This adjustment will improve riders’ ability to navigate their weekends efficiently and will be effective in time for residents to utilize for their tax-free weekend shopping by visiting various shopping plazas serviced by Metrorail stops like Dadeland North, Coconut Grove and Brickell.

Through enhanced integration with the Token Transit App, Miami-Dade Transit riders can purchase a One-Trip, One-Day, and Seven-Day Pass through various platforms, in the Token Transit App and Transit App, Google Wallet/Maps (Android only), and Moovit.

Other options include contactless-enabled bank cards or digital wallets, the GO Miami-Dade Transit app, online through the Transit Store, or any Ticket Vending Machine (TVMs) located at all Metrorail stations and at select sales outlets. Preloaded (pass product or stored value) EASY Cards and EASY Tickets also are accepted at the Metrorail faregates.

Accepted digital wallets include Apple Pay, Google Pay, Samsung Pay, and Fitbit Pay. If using a contactless-enabled bank card or digital wallet, the fare will cap at $5.65 for unlimited rides per day, including transfers, on Metrorail and Metrobus.

Visit Miami-Dade Transit’s website for complete Metrorail schedules, station maps, parking locations and much more. Schedules and real-time information will be available in Transit App and other trip planners.
