School Board Member Roberto J. Alonso Celebrates The Partnership Between MDC Public Schools And Space Florida

On Thursday, August 1, 2024, School Board Member Roberto Alonso, alongside State Senator Rene  Garcia, participated in the signing ceremony of a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between The  School Board of Miami-Dade County, Florida, and Space Florida. 

This groundbreaking and innovative collaboration will provide students in Miami-Dade County Public  Schools with unique opportunities in the aerospace field, including aerospace engineering. One of the  highlights of this initiative is the launch of the first-ever aerospace program at Hialeah-Miami Lakes  Senior High School in District 4. 

“The future of our students is bright! This partnership between Space Florida and Miami-Dade Schools  represents a visionary step toward securing a prosperous future for our students and our community. It  is a testament to what can be achieved when education and industry come together with a shared  goal,” said Board Member Alonso. “Let us celebrate this collaboration and look forward to the incredible  opportunities it will bring. Together, we are not just preparing our students for careers; we are  empowering them to reach for the stars.” 

Accompanying School Board Member Roberto Alonso and State Senator Rene Garcia were Ms.  Tabitha Fazzino, Chief Intergovernmental Affairs and Family and Community Engagement Officer,  Office of Intergovernmental Affairs & Family and Community Engagement; Mr. Daniel Mateo, Assistant Superintendent, Innovation & School Choice; Mr. Rene Mantilla, Assistant Superintendent, Post Secondary, Career and Technical Education, Office of Post-Secondary, Career and Technical  Education; and Mr. Alexander Santoyo, Administrative Director, North Region.
