NAF, formerly known as the National Academy Foundation, recognized Miami-Dade County Public Schools (M-DCPS) educators and career academies for their outstanding efforts in preparing students for future careers during its annual conference in Orlando this summer.
This annual professional learning conference brought together leaders from education, business, and the community to share insights, best practices, and innovations within the NAF network. Several M-DCPS educators and advisory board members led sessions throughout the event.
Three M-DCPS schools were added to NAF’s Distinguished Academies category, which brings the district’s total to 45, more than any other school system in the nation. The schools are Miami Norland Senior High Academy of Hospitality & Tourism, Miami Southridge Senior High Academy of Information Technology, and North Miami Senior High Academy of Culinary Arts.
Additionally, three new academies were inducted into NAF. The schools are Homestead Senior High Academy of Finance, Miami Central Senior High Academy of Hospitality & Tourism, and Southwest Miami Senior High Academy of Health Sciences. These academies are proof of the district’s continuing efforts to provide students with their best choice of high-quality training and resources.
Educator Robert Quinn received the 2024 Janet Linton Leadership Award for more than 35 years of outstanding contributions and achievements as an educator. The conference highlighted the power of collaboration and innovation in education.
