Tropical Botanic Garden has announced the Taste of the Caribbean Festival, set to take place on Sept. 14 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. The immersive event will celebrate the rich cultural heritage and delectable cuisine of the Caribbean, featuring flavors from Cuba, Jamaica, Dominican Republic, and Belize.
Guests will embark on a culinary journey through the Caribbean by purchasing tasting tickets for $2 each, which can be redeemed at various food tasting stations. Attendees will have the opportunity to sample an array of authentic dishes, as vendors will offer unique menu items to showcase their Caribbean specialties. Each food item can cost from two to six tickets.
In addition to the mouthwatering cuisine, Taste of the Caribbean will feature refreshing Caribbean drinks. Guests can quench their thirst with an exotic array of specialty cocktails, each crafted with vibrant colors and flavors that will transport them to island life.
Families will delight in the array of kid-friendly activities, including limbo, lime carry, and fruit sack races. Adults can enjoy traditional lawn games such as dominoes and giant checkers, fostering a sense of community and friendly competition.
The event also will feature an Island Market, bringing favorite island finds to Miami. Visitors can explore curated Caribbean spice shops, hemp products, and more from vendors such as Atizana Inspired, Psalms Brittle, Authentic Hemp, and Spice Rack by Rochelle.
“We are excited to bring the vibrant spirit of the Caribbean to Fairchild Tropical Botanic Garden,” said Nannette Zapata, the garden’s deputy director. “This event not only celebrates the diverse cultures and cuisines of these regions but also provides an opportunity for our community to come together and experience the warmth and hospitality of the Caribbean that makes up so much of the fabric of Miami.”
As the event approaches, Fairchild Tropical Botanic Garden will announce additional details, including participating vendors, specific menu offerings, and a full schedule of activities and entertainment.
