Last week, North Hialeah Elementary School kicked off the school year with a very successful Movie Night, bringing together hundreds of students and their families for an evening of community and fun. The event provided a wonderful opportunity for families to bond, socialize, and celebrate the start of the school year.
“Family involvement is critical to student success. It was heartwarming to see so many parents, children, and families enjoying this movie night together,” said Roberto J. Alonso, School Board Member for District 4. “When families are engaged, our students thrive both academically and emotionally. We are committed to creating more opportunities like this to strengthen the home-school connection.”
A special thank you goes to Senator Rene Garcia, whose generous sponsorship made this event possible. Senator Garcia has been a longtime supporter of District 4 students and continues to demonstrate his dedication to fostering positive community involvement.
Movie Night is just one of the many exciting initiatives planned for the school year. We look forward to continuing to create engaging experiences that unite families and enhance the learning environment for all students.
Parental involvement is crucial for students’ success. Statistics indicate that 95% of students with actively involved parents have better mental and physical well-being, providing them with a good foundation to excel academically. Students with involved parents experience reduced stress and anxiety levels, improved concentration in the classroom, and improved cognitive abilities. Moreover, 62.1% of students agree that parental involvement boosts self-esteem, which is key for academic achievement. Parental involvement empowers students to develop a positive self-image and to believe in their abilities, reduces their fear of failure, encourages them to take risks, and develops perseverance.
