Baptist Health Foundation announced recently that it has received a $2 million donation from MG Developer, a residential property development company, in support of Baptist Health Doctors Hospital in Coral Gables. MG Developer will be recognized at Baptist Health Doctors Hospital as one of its leading donors.

“We are thrilled to partner with MG Developer and grateful for their generosity,” said Alex Villoch, CEO of Baptist Health Foundation. “This donation allows Baptist Health Doctors Hospital to have the resources it needs to provide exceptional care to patients and their families while promoting healthy lifestyles and offering an additional benefit for residents of

The Village. It’s a gift that will continue to support healthcare excellence in this community.”

MG Developer’s generosity will help establish The Village at Coral Gables as a wellness-conscious community, emphasizing the importance of residents’ long-term healthy lifestyles while supporting a nearby world-class hospital that meets their needs. “This is a truly remarkable collaboration between MG Developer and Baptist Health Foundation,” said Alirio Torrealba, CEO of MG Developer. “We are proud to join them in supporting our Coral Gables community, as access to high-quality healthcare is an essential part of our local residents’ quality of life.”

Baptist Health Doctors Hospital has provided high-quality medical care to the community since 1949. Recognized as a Magnet hospital for nursing excellence, Baptist Health Doctors Hospital offers general and specialized services, including orthopedics and sports medicine, cardiac care and sports cardiology, general surgery, robotic and minimally invasive laparoscopic surgery, geriatric medicine, and pulmonary care.

The hospital features a state-of-the-art intensive care unit and provides a wide range of outpatient diagnostic services. Its emergency department provides a high-tech, high-touch approach to medicine.

Baptist Health Doctors Hospital also is home to the Miami HEAT Sports Medicine Center at Baptist Health Orthopedic Institute. The 49,000-square-foot facility houses all the Institute’s orthopedic specialties, including an ambulatory surgery center on the top floor.

U.S. News & World Report recognized Baptist Health Doctors Hospital as a High-Performing hospital in geriatrics, orthopedics, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, hip replacement, kidney failure, knee replacement, and pneumonia. Baptist Health Orthopedic Institute at Baptist Health Doctors Hospital was ranked as a High-Performing hospital in orthopedics, hip replacement, and knee replacement for 2023- 2024.

“This gift will make a significant impact,” said Lourdes Boue, CEO of Baptist Health Doctors Hospital. “From advanced diagnostic equipment to clinical development opportunities to patient support programs, our donors are helping us provide outstanding resources to our community. We are pleased to welcome The Village at Coral Gables residents with the exceptional care we have always been known for.”

Scheduled for completion in Q2 2025, The Village at Coral Gables is a 48-residence collection of townhomes, lofts, villas, and flats nestled in the residential heart of the city.

Paying homage to Coral Gables founder George Merrick in what’s considered a continuation of his vision of themed villages throughout Coral Gables, the project evokes the aesthetic beauty and lifestyle of Seville, Spain, with Mediterranean-revival style architecture.

As part of this donation, residents at The Village will be recognized as members of Baptist Health’s “Giving Society,” a distinguished group of individuals taking a conscious approach to community philanthropy that elevates the local standard of living.
