Here We Go: Guess Who’s Coming to Miami

Getting your Trinity Audio player ready...

Though we are still not out of the cone of uncertainty, we’re getting closer to that sweet spot where we begin to brag about where we live. Yes, October is here, and autumn events are falling.

First, foremost, and forever beloved unless you live on TruthSocial or hate the Chiefs, Taylor Swift is coming to Hard Rock Stadium for three nights. As I wrote this, you could still get tickets from one of those gouging, resale experts for October 18, 19, or 20. An unobstructed view was only $9324, and the stage side would only set you back $5000 – $7000 per ticket. It would be thousands cheaper to see her at the Kansas City vs Tampa Bay game on November 4th, but she is only performing there after Jason Kelce touchdowns.

The Eras Tour is Swift’s sixth concert tour. It began on March 17, 2023, in Glendale, Arizona, and is supposed to conclude in Vancouver in December, with 149 shows spanning five continents. Swift is such a legitimate global icon, terrorists planned to kill thousands at her August Vienna show. (PSA: Can we stop with all the hate, people?) Nevertheless, the Eras Tour has become the first tour in history to earn US$1 billion in revenue.

If Swift is not your cup of tea, Billboard Latin Music Week will hold its 35th anniversary event at the Fillmore on the Beach from October 14-18. Billboard is “the global music authority” according to Billboard. To be fair, everyone used to reference the Billboard Charts back in the day, but it continues to reign in this genre and region. Latin music’s biggest stars routinely attend and perform. It’s massive.

Scheduled participants this year include Bad Gyal, DANNA, Danny Ocean, Fat Joe, Gloria Estefan, Grupo Niche, J Balvin, Keityn, Luis Alfonso, Mau y Ricky, Mon LaFerte, N.O.R.E., Paola Jara, Peso Pluma, Pipe Bueno, Sophia Talamas, Yahritza y Su Esencia, Yandel and many more. Tickets for a number of activities are available in all sorts of ways from the organizers, and though I couldn’t seem to locate a ticket for the award show itself, it’s telecast on Telemundo on the 20th. Finally, if all of this is way too political, Latin, daunting or expensive for you, how about attending the ultimate Bavarian Festival at the Oldest Oktoberfest in Florida. On Miller Drive in Miami’s Horse Country, the German American Social Club will gather as usual for the 67th time. The last chance to raise your stein will coincide with the dates for Taylor Swift, but since the tickets will only set you back $15 or so, minus your beer, pretzel, sausage, and souvenir habits, this is a good opportunity to sport your lederhosen and get your drink on. First responders, military and kids get in free. Details are here: https://oktoberfest.miami/
